In February 2015 Klaus Dürbeck was on a technical assistance mission for seaweed in Indonesia for the Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO). The aim of this mission was the groundwork for the SIPPO buyer mission later in 2015 to and the preparation of companies for Food Ingredients Europe trade fair in Paris, December 2015. During the mission Klaus Dürbeck visited the National Seaweed Centre in Gerupuk and audited companies on several islands of Indonesia.
Seaweed are algae which can be processed into hydrocolloids for the food, healthcare and cosmetic industries. The most known hydrocolloids might be agar-agar (E 406) and carrageenan (E 407).
