In January 2015 Klaus Dürbeck was on a sourcing mission for natural ingredients in Tunisia. This mission was conducted in collaboration with the German Import Promotion Desk (IPD).
During the mission Klaus Dürbeck visited 6 institutions and audited 19 companies. The focus of company identification was set on implementing rural value addition in the regions of Beja and Kairouan. Finally 6 companies were selected for trade fair participation at Food Ingredients Europe 2015 in Paris and Biofach 2016 in Nuremberg. Products of the selected companies include: organic nopal products, organic pomegranate products, essential oils: organic and from wild collection, olive oil, cactus products, almonds, pistachios and apricot kernels.
Furthermore two exporter workshops were implemented in close cooperation with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Deutsch-Tunesische Industrie- und Handelskammer (AHK) on requirements for accessing the European Market.
